A showroom sofa is bought as it stands. A custom sofa is drawn to your wall before anything is built. Neither is the wrong choice: the right one depends on your room, your timeline and how much you want to decide yourself.
Size: does it fit the wall you have?
A showroom sofa comes in the sizes its maker produced. If your wall, corner and seating count happen to match one of them, that is the simplest route. If they do not, you end up fitting the room to the sofa.
A custom sofa is drawn to your wall, corner and seating count, not picked from stock sizes. That matters most for L-shaped sofas, curved sofas and awkward alcoves. Seat depth is one of the first decisions: about 55 to 60 cm suits upright sitting, and 65 to 70 cm suits lounging with your legs up.
Fabric and leather: on the floor, or in your hands
A showroom shows you the covers on the sofas it has on the floor. Our material library holds 300+ fabrics and leathers as physical samples you can lift, bend and take to the window, because colour on a screen is a guess.
Leather wipes clean and wears well, a good choice for families with children. Fabric such as velvet, bouclé or linen is softer, and linen is cool in a Hyderabad summer. Whichever you choose, the sample in your hand is what the finished sofa is made from.
What is inside matters more than the cover
Two sofas that look alike can be built very differently. Whoever you buy from, ask four questions:
- What is the frame made of, and how is it built?
- What supports the seat: webbing, springs or something else?
- What foam is in the cushions, and what is its density?
- What warranty comes with it, and is it in writing?
Our answers: every sofa is built on a pine frame with 18mm BWR plywood, sinuous springs and 40D HR foam. The frame is built and dry-assembled before anything is upholstered. Walnut is our standard visible timber; other timbers on request.
A sofa is only as good as what you cannot see.
Time: how soon do you need it?
A sofa that is already on a showroom floor can be home sooner. That is a real advantage, and if you need a sofa this week it is the better route.
A custom sofa takes longer because it is made after you approve the drawing. Our typical delivery is 21–30 days from the approved drawing, and we confirm the date in writing with your order.
Price and warranty
A custom quote follows the drawing: size, materials and finish decide it, and because we build in our own factory the price is factory direct. We do not quote from a catalogue, so ask for the quote once your sofa has been drawn.
Our sofas carry a 3-year warranty on frame, springs, foam and upholstery against manufacturing defects, confirmed in writing with your order. Normal wear, misuse and sun fading are not covered. Whoever you buy from, get the terms in writing before you pay.
When a showroom sofa is the right choice
- You need a sofa within days.
- Your room takes a standard size and you like what you see on the floor.
- You want to sit on the exact sofa before you pay, with no changes.
When a custom sofa is the right choice
- Your wall, corner or alcove does not suit a standard size.
- You want a specific fabric, leather or colour.
- You want an L-shape, a curve or a particular seat depth.
- You want to choose the materials by hand and see a 3D render before anything is built.
How a custom sofa is ordered at Mavensoft Furniture
- Send photographs of your room and the wall the sofa will stand against.
- Spend an hour at our Gachibowli design studio. The designer draws while you watch, you choose fabric or leather from physical samples, and you leave with a 3D render. The render is included at no charge.
- Approve the drawing. We confirm your delivery date in writing with your order.
- We build the sofa in our own factory, and our own team delivers and installs it across Hyderabad.
The design session carries no obligation and no deposit. Bring photographs of your room, and we will draw to it.
