What happens in the hour

The design centre is where the whole job starts. It is not a showroom, and there is nothing here to buy off the floor. It is a room with a drawing table, a material library you can put your hands into, and a screen where your piece appears in your room before we build it.

Your room, first

We start with your photographs, not our portfolio. The designer looks at the wall you want to fill, where the light falls, what the piece has to sit beside, and how the room is actually walked through. Rough dimensions are enough to begin.

The brief, out loud

How many people sit on it in the evening. Whether anyone sleeps on it. Whether children and dogs use it. What you disliked about the last one. Constraints make better furniture than preferences do.

Drawing, in front of you

The designer draws while you watch, and you argue with it while it is still cheap to change. Span, seat depth, arm profile, base height, the configuration of the corner. This is the part that cannot be done over WhatsApp.

Materials, in your hands

Fabrics, leathers, timbers and finishes are here as physical samples — over 300 in the library. You will feel the weave, bend the leather, and see the timber in daylight. Colour on a screen is a guess; colour in your hand is a decision.

The render

Your piece is rendered in 3D, in the materials you chose, so you can see it before it exists. You take the render away with you. If you would like it on WhatsApp as well, say so and we will send it.

What to bring

Photographs of the room from two or three positions, including the wall the piece will sit against. A floor plan if you have one. Rough dimensions. Any reference images you have saved.

The photographs are the one thing the session genuinely cannot proceed without.

The material library

Choose the fabric in your hands, not on a screen.

Over 300 samples you can lift, bend, fold and take to the window. A weave photographs one way and behaves another. Whatever you choose is written into your specification by name and code, and that is what arrives.

Before you ask

Does the session cost anything?

No. No obligation, no deposit, and no order is written in the room.

Am I going to be sold to for an hour?

You will be asked questions and shown a drawing. If your room is better served by something we do not make, we will tell you so.

I do not know what I want yet.

That is the normal condition. Bring the photographs and the problem, and the drawing will do the narrowing.

Can we do this on a call instead?

The drawing can be discussed remotely, but the material library cannot be posted. Most people decide the fabric in the room.

I am working with an interior designer.

Bring them. We manufacture to their drawings as readily as to our own.

How long until the piece arrives?

It depends on the piece and its materials. We give you the delivery date in writing before you commit.
