A living room that wants timber with a woven pattern
A plain walnut top is warm but quiet, and a room with plain upholstery can use a little pattern in its timber.
Vaya lays its walnut in herringbone, like the weave of a basket, on black ring frames that keep the pair light.
Four decisions
Herringbone walnut
The walnut is laid in a herringbone pattern, each strip at an angle to the next, like a weave.
Black ring frames
Black rings carry the tops, open and light beneath the patterned timber.
Pattern from timber
The herringbone gives the tables pattern without paint or stone, only the grain of walnut.
A nest
The smaller table nests beside the larger, so the two herringbones overlap at two heights.
Materials, named
As shown, round walnut-veneered tops laid in a herringbone pattern on ring frames of black powder-coated steel.
The making
Each strip of walnut is cut and laid by hand in herringbone, the tops lacquered matte, and the ring frames welded and powder-coated.
The finished piece
They suit a living room with a plain linen sofa, a wool rug and herringbone floors or panelling.
The Vaya is made to order in our own factory in Cherlapally, drawn at our Gachibowli studio, and delivered to Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Tellapur and beyond.
