The brief

A living room that wants gold without the shine

Polished gold can glare under spotlights, and some rooms want the colour of gold with a soft, matte surface.

Chhaya uses matte yellow-gold rings, soft as gold in shade, under one white top and one black.

Four decisions

Matte yellow gold

The ring frames are powder-coated matte yellow gold, the colour of gold without its shine.

White and black tops

One top is white veined in grey and one black, light and shadow side by side.

Soft under spotlights

The matte finish does not glare, so it stays calm under spotlights and in sun.

Two heights

The smaller table nests beside the larger, the two tops overlapping in contrast.

Materials, named

As shown, round sintered-stone tops, one white with grey veining and one black, on ring frames of matte yellow-gold powder-coated steel.

Sintered stone Polished
Frame Matte gold powder-coat

The making

The rings are rolled and welded into frames, ground smooth and powder-coated matte yellow gold, and the tops cut from two slabs.

The finished piece

They suit a living room with spotlights or big windows, where polished gold would glare.

We make the Chhaya in our own Hyderabad factory and deliver it ourselves, to apartments in Kondapur and Madhapur as readily as to villas in Narsingi.

Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.

Questions

Questions about the Chhaya nesting tables

What is the difference between matte gold and gold PVD?

Matte gold powder-coat has a soft, non-reflective finish; gold PVD is polished and shiny.

Can the Chhaya frames be polished gold?

Yes. The ring frames can be finished in polished gold PVD instead of matte powder-coat.

Sintered stone or Italian marble: which is better for the Chhaya nesting tables?

On the Chhaya, sintered stone, as photographed, is harder and needs no sealing; Italian marble is softer and needs sealing, but every slab is one of a kind. The Chhaya can be made with either, on gold powder-coated steel.

How do I get the Chhaya nesting tables made to my size?

Share the measurements of the room the Chhaya is for on WhatsApp, or bring them to our Gachibowli studio. We draw the Chhaya to fit, agree its materials with you, and quote factory direct.
