A small living room that wants a coffee table that lets light through
Stone and timber tables block the floor from view, which makes a small living room feel even smaller.
Madhu uses a top of amber-tinted glass, the colour of honey held to the light, on slim splayed gold legs that keep the floor visible.
Four decisions
Amber glass
The tempered glass top is tinted amber, like honey, so it glows warmly in sunlight.
Splayed gold legs
Slim gold legs splay out to the floor, steady and light beneath the round glass.
Light passes through
The floor and rug stay visible through the top, so a small room feels larger.
Warm, not cold
Amber glass is warmer than clear or smoked glass and suits gold and timber around it.
Materials, named
As shown, a round amber-tinted tempered glass top on splayed legs of gold PVD stainless steel.
The making
The legs are cut and welded at their splay, polished and finished in gold PVD, and the toughened glass top seated on clear pads.
The finished piece
It suits a small apartment living room with a light sofa and a patterned rug worth showing.
