A living room where the coffee table keeps filling up
A square coffee table in front of an L-shaped sofa soon becomes the place for everything: remotes, glasses, books and a bowl of fruit.
Nisha keeps the main table clear by giving it a companion: a round smoked-glass side table that slides beside it for the cup and the lamp.
Four decisions
A square black top
The square top is black sintered stone threaded with gold veins, dramatic but practical for daily use.
Brushed-metal block legs
Short block legs in brushed steel keep the heavy top low and steady in front of the sofa.
A smoked-glass companion
The round side table has a smoked-glass top on a slim metal frame, so it looks light beside the black stone.
Two heights
The side table stands taller than the coffee table, so it sits naturally at the arm of the sofa.
Materials, named
As shown, a black sintered-stone top with gold veining on brushed stainless steel legs, with a smoked tempered-glass side table; Nero Marquina Italian marble is available for the main top.
The making
The block legs are folded and welded from steel and brushed to a satin finish, the stone top is cut from a full slab and edged by hand, and the glass is toughened and edge-polished.
The finished piece
It suits a modern living room with an L-shaped sofa, where the coffee table sits at the centre and the side table at the corner.
