A balcony that needs somewhere to sit for morning tea
Most balconies in Hyderabad are used in the early morning and the late evening, by one or two people with a cup of tea or coffee.
Barletta is drawn for exactly those hours: a small stone table and two woven armchairs that sit comfortably outdoors under a roof.
Four decisions
A 59 cm round top
Enough for two cups, a plate of biscuits and a book, without crowding a narrow balcony or a corner of a terrace.
One pedestal
A single grey pedestal on a round foot keeps feet and chair legs free in a tight outdoor space.
Rope-weave chairs
Two armchairs woven in outdoor rope, cool to sit in on a warm evening and soft enough to sink into with a cushion.
At home outside
Stone, powder-coated steel and outdoor rope all suit a covered terrace, and none of them mind the humidity of the monsoon.
Materials, named
Grey sintered stone on the top; the pedestal is grey powder-coated steel; the chairs are hand-woven outdoor rope over a powder-coated frame, with cushions.
The making
The pedestal is welded and powder-coated for outdoor use, and each chair is woven by hand over its frame, the rope pulled tight and finished so no ends show.
The finished piece
A covered balcony or terrace in Gachibowli or Kondapur, with a planter, a string of lights and the city below.
The Barletta is made to order in our own factory in Cherlapally, drawn at our Gachibowli studio, and delivered to Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Tellapur and beyond.
Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.
