A living room that wants an L-shaped sofa with somewhere to put a cup
Large L-shaped sofas leave people at the far end without a table within reach, so cups end up on the floor or the cushions.
Colin sets a white marble tray flush into one fluted arm, so there is always a stone surface for a cup, a phone or a book.
Four decisions
An L with a chaise
The sectional turns into a chaise at one end, so someone can stretch out while others sit upright.
A marble arm tray
A tray of white marble with grey veining is set flush into one arm, a built-in side table where it is needed.
Fluted arm panels
The arm panels are fluted in vertical lines, which give the ivory weave a rhythm of light and shadow.
Dark legs
Dark metal legs lift the large sofa off the floor, so it looks lighter than its size suggests.
Materials, named
As shown, an ivory weave with fluted arm panels, a white marble tray with grey veining set into the arm, and dark metal legs.
The making
The arm is built with a recess for the marble tray, which is cut and polished to fit flush; the fluting is sewn and filled panel by panel before the cover is fitted.
The finished piece
It suits a large living room or a villa lounge, with the chaise towards the window and the marble tray beside the main seat.
The Colin is made to order in our own factory in Cherlapally, drawn at our Gachibowli studio, and delivered to Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Tellapur and beyond.
