A reading corner that needs a chair which feels private
An open-plan home has few places where one person can sit apart, and an ordinary armchair offers no sense of enclosure.
Cocoon wraps its grey woven seat in a cream leather shell, high at the back and curving round the sides, so the chair feels like a small room of its own.
Four decisions
A wrapping shell
The cream leather shell curves round the back and sides, so the person sitting in it feels held and private.
Two materials
A soft grey weave inside and smooth cream leather outside, so the chair is comfortable to sit in and easy to wipe.
A barrel form
The barrel shape is compact in plan, so it fits a corner or the side of a bed without crowding it.
Low and settled
The seat sits at a relaxed height for reading or tea, with the weight kept low so it never feels tippy.
Materials, named
As shown, a grey woven fabric on the seat and inner back, inside an outer shell of cream leather; both can be changed from our swatches.
The making
The barrel shell is framed and padded, the cream leather drawn round its outside in a single piece where possible, and the woven inner seat upholstered and fitted.
The finished piece
It suits a reading corner, a bedroom by a window, or a pair either side of a low table in a living room.
Each Cocoon is factory-made in Hyderabad and installed by our own team, whether the home is a penthouse in Kokapet or a villa off the Gandipet road.
