A sofa that needs surfaces at its ends, not a table in front
Some living rooms have no space for a coffee table: the sofa faces a screen, or the floor in front of it is the only way through the room.
Kalasha answers with two side tables shaped like water pots, one for each end of the sofa, each with a textured-glass top for a cup or a lamp.
Four decisions
Vase-shaped pedestals
Each pedestal swells like a kalasha, the traditional water pot, and narrows to a gold neck beneath the top.
Hammered mirror steel
The pedestals are hammered by hand and polished, so they scatter the light into many small highlights.
Textured glass tops
Round tops of textured glass let light pass through and hide fingerprints better than clear glass.
Two heights
The pair stand at slightly different heights, so they can overlap as a group or stand apart at each end.
Materials, named
As shown, textured tempered-glass tops on pedestals of hammered, mirror-polished stainless steel with gold PVD necks.
The making
Each pedestal is spun to its vase shape, hammered by hand and polished, the neck finished in gold PVD, and the glass toughened and edge-polished.
The finished piece
Set one at each end of a sofa, or group the pair beside a reading chair with a lamp on the taller one.
The Kalasha is drawn at our Gachibowli studio, made in our own factory, and delivered across Hyderabad, from Hitec City and Madhapur to Kokapet and Banjara Hills.
