A living room that wants a round timber table with storage
Round coffee tables rarely offer storage, because a drawer is hard to fit into a curved body.
Surya builds drawers into its round walnut body, and lays its veneer as a sunburst that radiates from the centre of the top.
Four decisions
A sunburst veneer
The walnut veneer is laid in segments that radiate from the centre, like rays of the sun.
Drawers in the body
Curved drawers open from the round body for remotes, books and coasters.
A glass side top
A smoked-glass side top on a black block stands beside the round table.
Round and warm
A round walnut table warms a room and suits a group of chairs.
Materials, named
As shown, a round walnut-veneered top laid in a sunburst, with curved drawers, and a smoked tempered-glass side top on a black lacquered block.
The making
The sunburst is laid segment by segment so the grain runs evenly from the centre, and the curved drawers are built and fitted on runners.
The finished piece
It suits a warm living room with a round rug and a pair of armchairs.
