A table where a solid base would look too heavy
A solid crossed base can look heavy beneath a light top, especially beneath toughened glass where the whole base is on view.
Model 623 cuts an oval opening through its X, so the base keeps all of its strength but lets the light pass through it.
Four decisions
Two crossing planes
The 623 base is two flat walnut planes that cross at right angles beneath the centre of the top.
An oval opening
An oval window is cut through the crossing, which lightens the whole form and frames the floor beyond.
A plinth
A plinth grounds the X and spreads its weight, so a heavy top sits steady on it.
For round or square tops
It carries round or square tops of up to about 130 cm, in stone, marble or glass.
Materials, named
Solid wood with a walnut finish; a display top is shown in the photograph, and glass or stone can be cut to fit.
The making
The two planes are cut and halved to cross, the oval opening is cut and its edge rounded by hand, then the base is finished in walnut.
The finished piece
It suits a modern dining room where the base will be seen through a glass or a light stone top.
We make the 623 in our own Hyderabad factory and deliver it ourselves, to apartments in Kondapur and Madhapur as readily as to villas in Narsingi.
Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.
