A room that needs somewhere to lie down that is not a bed
Between a sofa and a bed there is a piece most homes lack: somewhere to stretch out with a book, or to sit from either side.
Bonaventura is that piece: a long, armless daybed in channelled black leather that works at the foot of a bed or beneath a window.
Four decisions
No arms
The daybed has no arms or back, so it can be sat on from either side and placed in the middle of a room.
Deep channels
Deep vertical channels give the leather structure and stop the long cushion looking like a mattress.
A steel sled
A mirror-polished steel sled base lifts the daybed and makes a long form look light.
Long enough to lie on
The daybed is drawn long enough to lie along with a book, and firm enough to sit on upright.
Materials, named
As shown, black leather stitched in deep vertical channels, on a mirror-polished stainless steel sled base.
The making
The channels are sewn and filled one by one so each line stays crisp, the leather is drawn over the frame by hand, and the sled is polished to a mirror.
The finished piece
It suits the foot of a king-size bed, a window bay or a long living room, where it adds seating without blocking the view.
