One long curve, and a brass tray at the arm
The brief is a living room with one empty wall and a lot of floor. A straight three-seater would sit flat against the wall and leave the room looking like every other room.
It asks for one piece that gives the room a centre: low, long, soft to sit in and easy to walk around.
Four decisions
One long curve
The seat and back follow a single sweep, so the sofa reads as one form from every side of the room.
A rolled arm and a rounded arm
One end rolls over into a high arm to lean on. The other is rounded and open, so you can sit at either end.
Burgundy velvet
Deep in colour, with a pile that shifts in the light. It can also be made in cream or forest green.
Brass base and tray
A brass base lifts the curve just clear of the floor, and a small brass tray at the arm holds a cup or a phone.
Materials, named
As shown. Any piece can be made in another fabric, velvet or leather, chosen from the swatches in our Gachibowli studio.
The making
The curve is built as a frame in our factory, then upholstered by hand. The velvet is stretched and stapled over the frame so the pile lies evenly all the way round.
The finished piece
In a living room, Curva works best with room to walk around it: pulled off the wall, facing a low table, with the brass tray at the end closest to where you sit.
We build the Curva lounge sofa in our Hyderabad factory and deliver it to homes across the city, from Gachibowli and Kondapur to Tellapur, Gandipet and Jubilee Hills.
Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.
