A 360-degree sanctuary for reading and conversation
In corner reading nooks and between the living room and balcony, stationary chairs leave you facing in only one direction. The brief called for a chair that could swivel effortlessly to take in a conversation, pivot to face a movie, or turn toward sunset views.
It needed to feel like an embracing cocoon — deep enough to curl up in, with thick, tactile upholstery that brings warmth to cool stone and marble floors.
Four decisions
Concealed 360-degree ball-bearing swivel
An ultra-smooth German steel swivel turntable is fully recessed into the base plinth. The chair glides silently in a complete circle with zero wobbling or squeaking.
Curved barrel cocoon backrest
The rounded back wraps continuously around the sides, creating a comforting sense of privacy and acoustic quiet in open-plan spaces.
Biscuit channel-tufted circular seat
Vertical quilted channels across the round seat cushion distribute weight evenly and prevent the bouclé fabric from gathering or wrinkling over time.
Plush oversized lumbar pillow
A deeply filled square cushion cradles the lower back, ensuring ergonomic support for hours of reading or relaxation.

The making
The circular seat core was hand-patterned and tension-tufted before being joined to the curved barrel back. The swivel mechanism was torque-tested to ensure frictionless rotation.
The finished piece
In the room, Ember becomes everyone's favorite seat — tactile, cocooning, and always turning toward where life happens.
