A living room that wants a centre table with a sculptural base
A round top on four legs is practical, but it gives the room nothing to look at below the surface of the table.
Panjara sets its top on a faceted cage of gold wire, so the base is a light, geometric sculpture in the middle of the room.
Four decisions
A faceted cage
The Panjara base is a cage of gold wire bent into facets, wider at the top and the floor than at its waist.
Light, not solid
Because the cage is open, the floor and rug show through it and the table never looks heavy.
Round and centred
A round top suits a seating group arranged on more than one side of the table.
White stone
A white top veined in grey keeps the table bright and calm above the gold cage.
Materials, named
As shown, a round white sintered-stone top with grey veining on a faceted cage of gold PVD stainless steel wire.
The making
The wire is bent into facets on a jig, the joints welded and ground smooth, and the cage polished and finished in gold PVD before the top is fitted.
The finished piece
It suits a living room with a cream sofa and a round rug, where the cage is seen from every chair.
