A six-seat dining corner that has to be easy to live with
Most six-seat tables are used every day for homework, laptops and three meals. A delicate top or a base that catches feet becomes a daily irritation.
Solstice pairs a hard-wearing sintered-stone top with one central pedestal, so the table is tough on top and open underneath for feet and chairs.
Four decisions
170 cm for six
At 170 × 90 cm it seats six without crowding, and leaves room to walk round it in a typical apartment dining area.
A looped pedestal
The walnut pedestal is a closed loop, open at its centre, so it has presence without bulk and lets light pass through beneath the table.
Rose gold underfoot
A rose-gold plate spreads the weight on the floor and adds a warm line of metal at ankle height that echoes the gold in the stone.
Stone for everyday
Sintered stone shrugs off hot dishes, turmeric and spilt tea, which is exactly what a family table needs from its surface.
Materials, named
Cream sintered stone with grey and gold veining on the top, solid wood with a walnut finish for the pedestal, and rose-gold PVD steel for the plate.
The making
The loop is shaped from solid timber in two halves and joined at the top, the plate is cut and given its rose-gold PVD finish, and the stone is cut from a full slab and edged by hand.
The finished piece
In an open kitchen-dining space it holds its own beside timber cabinetry, and the gold in the veining ties it to brass handles or a pendant.
The Solstice is made to order in our own factory in Cherlapally, drawn at our Gachibowli studio, and delivered to Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Tellapur and beyond.
