A family dining room where everyone eats together, every day
A table for eight that is used daily has to be calm to look at and tough to live with, not a showpiece people are nervous to put a plate on.
Novara keeps the generous 210 cm length, adds a hard-wearing sintered-stone top, and puts its support in the middle so every seat is a good one.
Four decisions
Room for eight
At 210 × 100 cm each of eight diners has a full place, and the centre stays free for the shared dishes of a family meal.
Interlocking loops
Two walnut loops pass through each other, so the base is braced in both directions without needing a rail at knee height.
No legs at the ends
The base sits beneath the middle of the top, which leaves the head and the foot of the table entirely free for chairs.
A calm surface
Cream with soft grey veining hides crumbs and fingerprints between meals and needs only a damp cloth to look new again.
Materials, named
Cream sintered stone with soft grey veining on the top and solid wood with a walnut finish for the base. Natural Italian marble is available on the same base for a more formal room.
The making
Each loop is laminated and shaped, the two are notched to pass through each other, and the joint is glued and cleaned up by hand before the walnut finish goes on.
The finished piece
It suits a joint-family dining room or a weekend house: easy to wipe down after lunch, and generous enough for festival dinners.
