A long table that wants craft in its steel
Polished steel can look industrial and cold unless it carries a mark of the hand that made it.
Model Stand 180 gives one of its two steel panel legs a hammered face, so the base carries the texture of hand-worked metal.
Four decisions
Sized for 180 cm
The legs are drawn for a 180 cm top, seating six around a dining table.
Two panel legs
One panel at each end carries the top, leaving the long sides of the table free.
A hammered face
One leg carries a hammered face that breaks up the reflections into a thousand small highlights.
Mirror steel
The panels are polished to a mirror, so they reflect the room and the people around the table.
Materials, named
Mirror-polished stainless steel, with one face hammered by hand; a display top is shown in the photograph, and yours is cut to order.
The making
The panels are cut and polished, and the hammered face is worked by hand, blow by blow, before a final polish.
The finished piece
It suits a contemporary dining room with steel fittings and a long white marble or sintered-stone top.
