A monochrome room that wants texture as well as contrast
Smooth black drums can look flat, and a room in black and white needs texture to stop it feeling cold.
Pakhawaj textures its black drums like the skin of a pakhawaj, so they catch light, under a white top and a black one.
Four decisions
Textured drums
The black drums carry a textured surface that catches light like the skin of a drum.
White and black tops
One top is white veined in grey and the other black veined in white.
Depth in monochrome
Texture gives the black base depth, so the pair never looks flat.
Two heights
The smaller table nests beside the larger, so the black and white tops overlap.
Materials, named
As shown, round sintered-stone tops, one white with grey veining and one black with white veining, on textured black lacquered drum pedestals.
The making
The drums are built in engineered wood, their surface textured by hand, then lacquered black before the tops are fixed.
The finished piece
They suit a monochrome living room with a grey sofa and warm lamps that bring out the texture.
We make the Pakhawaj in our own Hyderabad factory and deliver it ourselves, to apartments in Kondapur and Madhapur as readily as to villas in Narsingi.
Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.
