A dining room that mixes gold and silver fittings
Many homes mix their metals: gold taps in one room, steel appliances in another, brass lights, chrome handles. A table in a single metal can clash with half of them.
Lausanne uses both gold and mirror steel in one butterfly-shaped base, so it sits comfortably in a home where the two already live together.
Four decisions
160 × 90 cm
Six seats in a size that suits most apartment dining rooms, with the ends kept free of legs.
A butterfly base
Two wings of metal open from a central spine beneath the top, like a butterfly resting with its wings half raised.
Gold and steel
One face of each wing is gold and the other mirror steel, so the base changes colour as you walk round it.
Grey veining
The grey-veined top balances both metals, warm enough for the gold and cool enough for the steel.
Materials, named
White sintered stone with grey veining on the top; the base is stainless steel finished partly in gold PVD and partly mirror-polished.
The making
The wings are cut and shaped from steel plate, polished, and given separate gold and mirror finishes before they are assembled on their spine.
The finished piece
It suits a home where gold and silver fittings already appear, and a dining room with grey or white walls.
The Lausanne is made in our own factory and delivered across Hyderabad, from Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills to Kokapet, Narsingi and the Financial District.
