A dark modern dining room where a black table could vanish
In a dark dining room a black table can disappear into a shapeless mass, with nothing to catch the eye between the floor and the top.
Neuchatel gives its darkness an outline: a crisp X beneath the top and a six-sided plate on the floor, both catching the light at their edges.
Four decisions
A slimmer 80 cm width
The Neuchatel top is 80 cm deep rather than 90, which suits narrow dining rooms and long galley-style spaces in city apartments.
An X base
Two black legs cross beneath the top, so the base reads as a single sharp drawing rather than four separate supports.
A hexagonal plate
The X stands on a plate with six sides instead of four, a small geometric detail at floor level.
Near-black stone
The Neuchatel top is almost black, matte enough to hide fingerprints and deep enough to make white plates and glassware glow.
Materials, named
The top is near-black sintered stone, labelled black by the supplier; the X and the hexagonal plate are black powder-coated steel, which can be finished in gold.
The making
The X is welded from steel section, ground clean at the crossing and powder-coated black with the plate, then the top is dry-fitted and levelled on the bench.
The finished piece
Pair it with tan leather chairs and a black pendant in a room with dark walls, or set it in a white kitchen as the one dark object.
Each Neuchatel is factory-made in Hyderabad and installed by our own team, whether the home is a penthouse in Kokapet or a villa off the Gandipet road.
