A minimalist home that wants a table without any ornament
In a minimalist apartment the dining table is often the largest object in view, so any ornament on it is magnified many times over.
Zurich answers with proportion alone: a long pale slab, two dark slabs beneath it, and the shadow that falls between them.
Four decisions
Six seats, generously
At 180 × 90 cm there is room for three chairs a side with a full elbow's width between neighbours.
Two slabs, set in
The slab legs stand a little in from each end, so a chair can still be drawn up at the head of the table.
Tone on tone
A pale grey top over charcoal legs gives depth without contrast, so the table looks carved rather than assembled.
A quiet top
The plain grey stone has almost no veining, which suits rooms with concrete, linen and matte black fittings.
Materials, named
The Zurich top is pale grey sintered stone; the slab legs are engineered wood finished in charcoal satin lacquer. For a monolithic version, the legs can be clad in the same stone as the top.
The making
Each slab leg is built as a box, its edges radiused a fraction so they are kind to shins, then sprayed charcoal and fixed to a concealed steel rail that keeps the long top flat.
The finished piece
It belongs in a pared-back apartment in the Financial District or Kokapet, with grey walls, a linen pendant and chairs in black or natural oak.
The chair in the photograph is shown for styling; ask us about matching chairs.
The Zurich is made in our own factory and delivered across Hyderabad, from Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills to Kokapet, Narsingi and the Financial District.
Your room is not this room. Bring photographs and we will draw to it.
