A modern room that wants one bold line beneath the table
Modern rooms often want one bold line rather than a complicated form, and a dining base is the ideal place to draw it.
Model T18 draws that line in walnut: a Z that carries the top on its upper stroke and stands on the floor with its lower one.
Four decisions
A single Z
The T18 base is one continuous Z, so it reads as a single confident gesture rather than an assembly of parts.
Strong horizontals
The upper stroke supports the top along its length, and the lower stroke spreads the load across the floor.
One diagonal
The diagonal stroke gives the table energy, as if it were about to set off across the room.
For rectangular tops
It suits tops of 150 to 180 cm long, the size of a four- to six-seat dining table.
Materials, named
Solid wood with a walnut finish; a display top is shown in the photograph, and yours is cut in the stone you choose.
The making
The Z is built from laminated sections joined at the corners with hidden dowels, the joints faired so the base reads as one piece, then finished in walnut.
The finished piece
It is a bold base for a modern dining room with concrete, black steel and leather chairs.
