A bedroom where the bed should embrace the room, not just stand in it
Most headboards stop at the edge of the mattress, so the bedside tables and lamps look like separate pieces lined up beside the bed.
Verona extends its headboard into wings on both sides, so the bed reaches out to frame the bedside tables and holds the whole wall together.
Four decisions
A winged headboard
The headboard extends past the mattress into wings on both sides, framing the bedside tables.
Low and wide
Kept low and wide, the headboard gives the room a calm horizontal line instead of a tall slab.
Tan bouclé
Warm tan bouclé covers the headboard, the wings and the base, soft to lean against and to touch.
Upholstered all round
The Verona base is upholstered too, so there are no hard corners to catch a shin in the dark.
Materials, named
As shown, tan bouclé over the headboard, wings and base, on a seasoned hardwood frame with an engineered-wood platform; it can be made with a hydraulic storage base.
The making
The headboard and wings are framed in hardwood and padded, then the bouclé is eased round every edge by hand so its loops lie evenly across the whole width.
The finished piece
It suits a large master bedroom, with low bedside tables tucked inside the wings and a pair of wall lights above.
Each Verona is factory-made in Hyderabad and installed by our own team, whether the home is a penthouse in Kokapet or a villa off the Gandipet road.
