A warm living room that wants nesting tables with a hand-turned look
Metal pedestals can feel cold in a home full of timber, cane and cotton, where everything else is soft and natural.
Tumba turns each pedestal in walnut-finished solid wood, swelling like the tumba gourd used for the body of a veena, under bright white stone.
Four decisions
Gourd pedestals
Each pedestal swells and narrows like a dried gourd, turned on a lathe from solid wood.
A walnut finish
The turned wood is stained and finished in walnut, warm beside cane chairs and timber floors.
White stone tops
Round white sintered-stone tops sit above the timber, bright and easy to wipe after tea.
A nest of tables
The tables stand at different heights, so they gather in front of the sofa or spread apart.
Materials, named
As shown, round white sintered-stone tops on lathe-turned solid wood pedestals in a walnut finish; a white marble top is available.
The making
Each pedestal is turned from a laminated block of solid wood, sanded, stained walnut and sealed, before its stone top is bonded and fixed.
The finished piece
They suit a warm living room with a cane armchair, a cotton dhurrie and a linen sofa.
The Tumba is made in our own factory and delivered across Hyderabad, from Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills to Kokapet, Narsingi and the Financial District.
