A dining area that needs a table which does not look busy
In a small dining area every leg is visual noise; four legs and an apron can make even a modest table look cluttered and heavy.
Monolith reduces the base to a single V, so from across the room the table reads as one slab of stone held calmly in the air.
Four decisions
A clean 170 cm
The 170 × 90 cm top seats six and keeps a neat footprint that suits the dining area of a city apartment.
One V
The pedestal is a single V of walnut, wide where it meets the top and narrow where it meets the floor, so it looks lighter than it is.
A mirror plate
A rose-gold mirror plate catches light at floor level and reflects the walnut, which makes the base seem to float.
A pale top
The pale cream stone keeps the table quiet, so the chairs, the lighting and the art on the wall can carry the colour in the room.
Materials, named
Sintered stone in pale cream on the top, solid wood with a walnut finish for the V, and rose-gold mirror PVD on stainless steel for the plate.
The making
The V is shaped from solid wood and its two arms checked for symmetry against a template, then finished in walnut; the plate is polished to a mirror and given its PVD colour.
The finished piece
It works in a compact dining area off a living room, where the table is always in view; a single pendant centred over the V completes it.
The Monolith is made in our own factory and delivered across Hyderabad, from Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills to Kokapet, Narsingi and the Financial District.
